For widows, a microfinance grant is arranged to launch a microbusiness.

Individually operated microbusiness includes:


                                        •  Raising animals (chickens, ducks, pigeons, cows, sheep & goats)

                                        •  Selling handmade products (crafts, weaving, or sewing)

                                        •  Selling used or new clothing from the home

                                        •  Operating a small kiosk


To manage risk, training on microbusiness operation is mandated.

To kick start the new microbusiness, the first month supply of “materials” is provided with an agreement that,

moving forward,  it is up to the individual to operate independently.

Microloans are available from FFF for women who wish to start or expand their business


Benefits:

The interest rate is lower than those offered by banks

No collateral is required; in lieu three signatures is obligatory


To ensure success and repayment:


                                        •  The amount of the loan is low for first time loaners

                                        •  A “business plan” (with the help of FFF) is a requisite

                                        •  Whether individually or as a group, everyone must attend the

                                           “Microbusiness Concepts, Marketing & Funding” workshop.

                                        •  Monthly follow-up (after the loan)
